2011: A Summer I’ll Never Forget

It’s a bittersweet feeling as I write my last intern blog.

In the eight weeks I’ve spent at Double R, I’ve learned and experienced more than I ever could have anticipated.

I was clueless about video production before this summer. During my first few weeks, it seemed like I listened to a foreign language when conversations took place in the office. It’s hard to believe that it wasn’t long ago when I thought lavalieres referred to necklaces with sorority letters, not microphones.

I’ve learned so much about the video-making. I had an extensive amount of hands-on experience during my time here, from script writing, to filming, to shooting. Whether it, filming with my intern team, doing research or writing a blog, I always enjoyed my assignments.

Despite the unbearable heat, I fell in love with DC. When I wasn’t at work, I spent as much time as possible experiencing all that DC has to offer. I have always enjoyed visiting here, but now I know that this is where I want to live.

While all the experience I gained is going to be valuable as I finish my degree in communications, this summer wouldn’t have been nearly as enjoyable if it weren’t for the people I work with. I truly could not have asked for better mentors. I found a family at Double R Productions, which makes it even more difficult for me to leave.

I’ve had other internships in the past, but my experience at Double R will always be the most memorable. It will be hard to leave, but it is comforting to know I am leaving as someone who is now better-rounded in the field of communications.
